 FAQs

  • BBH is a mandatory reporter of suspected abuse or neglect. If such concerns arise during the placement process, BBH will report to OCS as required by law.

  • No. Parents do not lose custody when a child is placed voluntarily. Custody arrangements remain unchanged unless determined otherwise by a court or OCS in specific cases.

  • Parents retain their legal rights and decision-making authority unless a court order specifies otherwise. Discharge planning is a collaborative process involving the family, BBH staff, and any referring agencies.

  • Factors include the child’s behavioral and mental health needs, the family’s circumstances, safety concerns, and the availability of appropriate services at BBH. A thorough assessment is conducted to ensure the program is the right fit.
